Lucid Rhythm
A house designed with a musician in mind...
Studio_2005

I grew up in an environment where live music was constant. My father is a drummer, and often practices in his basement. Through this direct experience of music and space, my initial ideas were hinged around an interest in music not as occupying a space, or bleeding from it, but rather music as the mode to inspire formal qualities such as rhythm, tempo, texture and structure. When developing my ideas, like always, I began with Collage. Through utilizing this process I set about exploring, and separating individual components of the structures that surrounded me. By analyzing individual shapes, volumes, and contours of these structures, I developed an understanding of components coming together, much like music, to create a whole composition. With this awareness, I wanted to produce a structure that would be one continuously folding, and undulation form that, through it’s individual components placed in a specific formation, would come together to create a whole.
