Urban Shed
Studio_2009

This project proposed for the inclusion of various technological interfaces in which materials, tools, and technology (within the urban environment) are utilized to combine advertising and scaffolding. My approach to this project was to create a fabric-like structure that essentially drapes the already existing scaffolding. The 'fabric' is composed of 2"x2"x1/4" carbon square steel tubes. Specific advertising is placed on either two, or all sides of the tube and when aligned correctly, create ads from every perspective of the traveler.  For illumination, each tube has a 1/2" slit on opposite sides with L.E.D. lights.  This project provided me with a great deal of creative freedom. It was during this time I began to pay closer attention to how significant Collage is in allowing me to explore the relationship between body, objects and spaces. Through collage, and this project, I developed ideas that were directed by my interest in the scattering, and dislocation of imagery and, of most importance, how the individuals’ perspective would generate a particular experience.
